Nizamrak Building, Penthouse Level, "The Loft"

Erryq curled up in an oversized chair. "They were beautiful together. Don't you think?"

Cyken thrust himself out of his seat and stalked toward the bar, where he picked up a highball glass and a bottle of whiskey. As if weighing them, he lifted the glass in one hand and the bottle in the other. Setting the glass down, he tilted the bottle straight up and drank.

Rheyn picked up a bottle of her own and poured a hefty portion.

Neither of them could get drunk. Booze hadn't affected them in centuries. Still, Erryq understood the sentiment. It was obvious the two men were meant to be together, even if neither Cyken nor Rheyn wanted to admit it.

"It's too bad they're Chosen. They'd have made a nice couple. I don't know about you, but I don't think our Alitus is scared of boys any more. I'll let Pietas know he passed the test."
